Aloha! i Hope everyone is doing well! I was just wondering if there is another program other than winzip that I could trial and buy to create zip files?
Thanks!

you could try 7zip, its free

but if you want a paid aps, check out winRar.

I'd go with 7zip, personally. The only thing that Win Rar does that 7zip doesn't is split files. That is, if you want to create an archive, but for whatever reason you need to split it into parts to conserve space. But 7zip handles a whole bunch of archive formats, so if you're just thinking about opening and zipping archives in the standard zip format, I wouldn't worry about it.

it does work, it's not like winZip where there's a window for it. you control it via the 7zip menu in the contect menu for a file.

I know. I tried that before and it worked. But this time it didn't.

What exactly does it do when you try to unzip a file? Some information about the specific error you're getting would be helpful. Also what operating system are you using?

it's really not fair to claim something doesn't work until you've exhausted all your options. Just sayin. so, what all have you tried in terms of trouble shooting the problem?

About WinRar, it seems that after the trial period expires, you can still compress and extract files as you can with WinZip; you just can't open them directly by clicking the rar file.

a correction to what someone said, it is possible to split with win rar. You have to set how large you want the individual files to be in the options, and when win rar exceeds that limit while compressing, it will automatically split the file into parts 1 and 2.

No, what I said was that it's not possible to split with 7zip. Win Rar is the program I use for splitting files. Is it possible to do that in 7zip and I just don't know about it? Also, speaking of 7zip, I have another question. Say you select a bunch of archives, and then extract them all, but there's more than one password you have to enter. Is it possible to do that? Because if you just enter one, it obviously won't work on the other archives whose passwords are different. Thanks for the help.
